Overview

Challenge

Challenge:  One of the key challenges at Canteen Creek was addressing persistent water pressure issues that impacted both daily operations and emergency preparedness. The site had an illegal connection to the fire storage tank, creating compliance risks and compromising water reliability for the community.

What we faced:

Project Complexities: Remote and complex projects often demand a wide range of skills and equipment to manage diverse tasks efficiently and minimise downtime.

Sourcing Skilled Workforce: Attracting and retaining skilled tradespeople in remote Northern Territory regions presents unique challenges, with limited local availability and high turnover.

Logistics For Remote Workforce: Providing comfortable accommodation and reliable access to fresh supplies in remote areas is essential to supporting our teams.

Solution

To resolve this, we needed to install a dedicated 10,000-litre water tank and pressure pump system. This solution not only restored proper water pressure throughout the facility but also ensured all connections met regulatory standards. Delivering a safer, more dependable water supply for Canteen Creek.

What we delivered?

Fleet & Team Preparedness: Our multi-skilled trades team and well-equipped fleet allow us to handle varied on-site requirements, adapt quickly to challenges, and complete work safely and efficiently without delays.

Building Local Capability: We invest in local training, apprenticeships, and community partnerships, while maintaining a core team of experienced tradespeople who rotate through remote projects to ensure reliability and continuity.

Community-Backed Logistics: By securing local accommodation early, installing demountable camps when needed, or using transition houses. We partner with community providers to source fresh supplies and always support local businesses where we can. Forward planning is essential for smooth logistics.

"Owning a Tennant Creek property and living interstate doesn’t have to be stressful or a concern when you have the right people on your team. We use Irish and the beautiful Sarah from Barkly Plumbing to manage our plumbing maintenance needs and we are extremely satisfied with the results."
