Overview

Challenge

Delivering plumbing infrastructure in Nguyarramini meant navigating some of the most remote and demanding conditions in the Northern Territory. From extreme distances and seasonal access restrictions to limited accommodation and cultural sensitivities, the project demanded coordination, consideration and community engagement.

What we faced:

- Remote Conditions: Harsh climate, long travel times, and restricted access during the wet season.

- Limited Local Trades: Scarcity of qualified tradespeople impacted consistency and required strategic workforce planning.

- Community Engagement: Strong stakeholder relationships and cultural awareness were essential to align with local expectations.

- Infrastructure Gaps: Minimal accommodation and food options made long-term deployment logistically complex.

Solution

We approach every remote plumbing project with planning and partnerships front of mind. Ensuring our teams are equipped with everything they need to get the job done, no matter the terrain, distance, or season. The result?  A plumbing project that’s proudly running smoothly whilst supporting local communities and businesses.

How We Delivered:

- Detailed Planning: Detailed project mapping, flexible scheduling, and local supplier partnerships keep work moving.

- Building Workforce: We invest in local training, while rotating a core team of experienced tradespeople to maintain consistency.

- Community-First Approach: Early consultation and collaboration with Traditional Owners built trust and alignment.

- Installed Camps: We secured accommodation early, installed demountable camps, and sourced supplies locally to support both our team and the community.

"Owning a Tennant Creek property and living interstate doesn’t have to be stressful or a concern when you have the right people on your team. We use Irish and the beautiful Sarah from Barkly Plumbing to manage our plumbing maintenance needs and we are extremely satisfied with the results."
